The most prominent relationship in the story is between Raphaella and Garnet. When Garnet first sees Raphaella, he claims he instantly fell in love with her. "Even before she finished talking, I had fallen in love with her."(Bell 28). Their relationship at first is not very strong because he rarely gets a chance to talk with her. However one day he goes into the theatre she works at. His intention was to talk with her, instead of talking he kisses her. From there their relationship becomes stronger as they get to know each other. Another interesting relationship in the novel is between the spirits and Garnet. Garnet has dreams about them. In some situations Garnet has seen the spirits in real life. He and the spirits have never spoken to each other. I find this strange because they know so much about each other, when they haven't even spoken to one another.

There are several main relationships in this novel. One of them is between the
protagonists of the story, Garnet Havelock and Raphaella Skye. They meet at school in
an English class, and like in Romeo and Juliet, it is love at first sight. They both
eventually give in to their love for each other and become a couple. Another
relationship developed in this story is between Hannah, a murder victim of the 1800s,
and Garnet and Raphaella. Hannah first gets Garnet’s attention when he hears her
sobbing while she walks to her deceased husband’s grave. Garnet and Raphaella
explore the history of the town of Orillia and get very emotionally involved with
Hannah and trying to put her spirit to rest peacefully.

There is one particular relationship in Stones, that grows stronger and more in love is
between the main characters (Raphaella and Garnet) This relationship at the beginning had a lot to do with Garnet wanting Raphaella,
then the other way around. Garnet after falling in love with Raphaella the very first day they
spoke, would continuously at every possible opportunity try to get her to go out with
him. Raphaella after answering with a strict “NO” (Bell 30), to every time Garnet would call or
personally ask, finally gave in. Raphaella decided to agree, after going to Garnet’s father’s
antique shop and made a deal with Garnet that if she went out with him, she would be able to
use furniture from the shop for her play. After the date, Garnet didn’t hear from Raphaella for
a long time and when he did see her she would not talk to him. After calling her many time
once again and getting answer such as “I can’t talk” (Bell 36) or “I’m too busy” (Bell 37), Garnet
became feed up and decided to walk up to Raphaella and kiss her while she was rehearsing. To
his surprise she kissed him back and for that point on they were considered a couple. As the
novel continued they faced many challenges, which might have pushed a typical relationship
apart, however by going though and solving the problem together help Garnet and Raphaella
realizes how much they really loved each other.

There are a couple of relationships in the novel but the one that stood out the most was the relationship between Garnet Havelock and Raphaella Skyes. Garnet first lays his eyes on Raphaella in English class and claims that he instantly fell in love with her. "Even before she finished talking, I had fallen in love with her."(Bell 28). At the beginning Garnet could not get her attention, every opportunity he had he would try to make her go out with him and every time she would turn him down. But when Raphaella visited Garnet’s father’s antique shop she agreed to go out with him only if he let her use furniture from the shop for her play. After the date she did not talk to him again. He called many times getting answers like no or I’m too busy. Garnet decided to confront Raphaella but instead he ended up kissing her and surprisingly she kissed him back. From then on they were considered a couple. Throughout the novel they faced many challenges together and they got in arguments but they always worked things out.
Another relationship in the novel was between Hannah and Jubal. Hannah was madly in love with her husband Jubal and when he died she was devastated. Every night Garnet would hear Hannah’s ghost crying and calling out for Jubal. Garnet even saw her go to Jubal’s grave and pray. Their love was unconditional even in the afterlife. Hannah was suffering because she could not be with Jubal. At the end of the novel Garnet and Raphaella dug up Hannah’s body and buried it beside Jubal’s so Hannah could rest in peace beside her beloved husband.

I agree with everyone in this question since the most outstanding relationship is between Garnet and Raphella. This is for the reasons that in the introduction of the novel Garnet sees Raphella and immediately falls in love. He tries to get her attention by calling her and asking out but nothing works. Finally he gets the brilliant idea to go see her. This is when he gets an adrenaline rush and makes a bold statement by kissing her. Surprisingly she kisses him back and this is the beginning of the most prominent relationship in the novel Stones. Also, throughout the novel this relationship becomes more significant and I believe without this bond connecting Raphella and Garnet, the novel could not have moved much further.

I also agree with all of the above. I find it ironic how at school Garnet and his class mates were having a debate on love a first sight and Garnet was argueing against it. However by the end of the class he falls in love with Raphaella, like how Romeo falls in love with Juliet, without even getting to know one another.

The main relationship in the novel is between the protagonists, Garnet Havelock and Raphaella Skye. Their relationship is first brought up at the beginning of the book where Garnet sees Raphaella in English class. “Even before she had finished talking, I had fallen in love with her.” (Bell 28) After that moment, Garnet tried to talk to Raphaella and go out with her but every time she would turn him down. One day, Raphaella went into Garnet’s family’s antique shop and they started talking. Garnet promised to lend Raphaella furniture for the production of the play she was working on if she went out with him. She agreed and they went out. After they went out, Garnet tried calling her to go out again but all he got was I’m to busy or she wouldn’t return his calls. Finally, Garnet got the courage to confront Raphaella but instead he kissed her. “But I still couldn’t think of what to say. I opened my mouth to speak. But instead of talking I stepped toward her, took her in my arms and kissed her.” (Bell 90) To Garnet’s surprise, Raphaella kissed him back and from there on they became a couple. During the novel, Garnet and Raphaella faced many challenges, obstacles and a few fights but in the end their love proved strong and they stayed together.
Another relationship in the book was between Hannah and Jubal Duvalier. They were married and moved to Canada around 1825. Their relationship was strong until Jubal passed away and Hannah was left alone. After Jubal died, Hannah was murdered for believing in a different religion and she could never rest in peace. The love between Hannah and Jubal was so strong that it carried into the after life. Hannah couldn’t rest in peace and ran to Jubal’s grave and cried to be with him. After Raphaella and Garnet buried Hannah she was finally at peace and she was able to be with her love, Jubal. This shows how strong love can be between two people.

I think the most important relationship in the novel is between Garnet and Raphaella. This is the most important relationship in novel because if Garnet never met Raphaella he wouldn’t have searched deeper into the mystery between Hannah and the spirits following her every night. Garnet experienced “love at first sight” with Raphaella even though at the time when they met, he was arguing against that such a thing would exist. But everything he was arguing about contradicted everything he was feeling at that time, because it was that very moment that he fell in love with Raphaella while arguing with her that there is no such thing as love at first, which basically means he doesn’t like her. This would be dramatic irony because we know that Garnet fell in love with Raphaella but she doesn’t know. After the first time he met her, couldn’t stop thinking about her and wanted to talk to her. He finally built up the courage to approach her, but instead of doing as intended, talking to her, he kissed her instead. With that kiss is how they started dating. There were many obstacles that came in between them but in the end they overcame those obstacles.
Another relationship in the story would be Garnet and Hannah. I think there is a relationship between them because even though they do not know each other personally, Garnet still cares for her. This is why he wanted to figure out more about her and try to help her rest in peace.

The most prominent relationship in this novel is between the protagonists Garnet Havelock and Raphaella Skype. Garnet first laid his eyes on Raphaella during a debate in english class and had fallen in love with her instantly, despite his disbelief of love and especially love at first sight. "Even before she finished talking, I had fallen in love with her."(Bell 28). From that moment on, Raphaella was all Garnet could think of and one day Garnet got up the courage to call her (after calling his school, pretending to be someone else, to get her home phone number). Garnet asked her to go out, and she turned him down. Days later, Garnet was working at his fathers antique furniture shop when Raphaella walked in. Love struck, Garnet made conversation and ended up lending Raphaella some pieces for a production play she was helping with in exchange for a date (they ended up sitting in the back room of the shop drinking juice and talking). After that day, Garnet had tried calling Raphaella many times but the only answer he got was “I can’t talk” (Bell 36) or “I’m too busy” (Bell 37), and one day he decided to go down to the theater where she was working to talk to her, but ended up kissing her and to his surprise she kissed him back. From then on, they became inseperable. Strange things started to happen to Garnet and together, Garnet and Raphaella solved the tangled mystery leaving them to realized how much they love each other and cant live without one another.

In the novel Stones, there are many relationships that can be found in this novel. But, the most important and main one through out the book would definitely be the strong and unique relationship between Garnet Havelock and Raphaella Skye. Garnet and Raphaella love for each other sprung from the get go, during a debate in English class, on if true love was real or not (Bell, 24-25) without Garnets desire to be with Raphaella, many things would have never have taking place or be accomplished. With out this vital relationship in the plot garnet would have never discovered the truth behind the black community and would have never changed his attitude on life. At first Raphaella was very reluctant of having any connections with Garnet, but after she stopped by his parents furniture store one afternoon and rented out some props for the theatre production she was locally helping out in, their connection between each other grew. Raphaella always stayed in Garnets thoughts, and he wanted to be with Raphaella so much he went to the extent to kissing her, pushing him out of his comfort zone. From that point on, they were a couple facing the obstacles together through out the story.

I agree with eliisee. I do feel that the prominent relationship is between Raphaella and Garnet, but I also feel that there are many more relationships within the novel. There is a relationship with Garnet and his family and the story also goes into a small amount of detail about the relationship with Hannah and Jubal. The relationship with Garnet and his family is more evident when Garnets mother goes off for a job opportunity. When she arrives home after a dangerous trip, the family is instantly closer. The relationship between Hannah and Jubal is not developed in great detail, but the reader does know that the main conflict happens because they were not buried together. Hannah was lonely without him. These are only a few of the relationships that I found in the story.

I agree with everyone’s statements and opinions here. The strongest and most noticeable relationship of them all in the novel is Raphaella Skye and Garnets Havelock’s relationship. From the beginning their love was meant to be. Their affection for each other began when Garnet first laid his eyes on Raphaella. He instantly fell in love with her long black hair and her rebellious personality. It took a lot of courage for Garnet to approach Raphaella and it also took time for Raphaella’s first thoughts fade away but after Garnet proved his love to her the story began to shift into a romantic love story between the young couple. I also agree with Kirisas comment on how the ancient ghost, Hannah and her lover Jubal also play a big relationship in the plot. Hannah’s desire to be rested with her true love after all those years, made Raphaella and Garnet face many of the problems in the story.

I agree with everyone's comments on how the most prominent relationship in the story is between the two protagonists, Garnet Havelock and Raphaella Skye. Both of these characters don't have a lot of friends, they don't seem like they are very romantic and social, but yet they are so different in the sense that Raphaella is outspoken and outgoing while Garnet is shy and quiet. They first meet while debating about love at first sight, and then Garnet makes a deal with Raphaella that if they go out, she can borrow his furniture. After their very good date, the relationship kind of goes downhill until Garnet goes up and kisses Raphaella and they fall in love. Although I think this relationship is significant, I disagree that nobody except Kirisa and Sara stated that the relationship between Jubal and Hannah was important. I think another relationship is very important too. It is between Hannah and Jubal Duvalier from 150 years ago. They fell in love in the old country, and then moved to Canada in 1825. After Jubal died, Hannah became very depressed and then she was murdered. When she was finally put to rest by Garnet and Raphaella, she could join her Jubal and they could be together and in love, once again. These were the two main relationships in the story, and I agree with everyone's comments and explanations about how they developed.

I agree with all of the answers that say that the main relationship in the novel is between Garnet and Raphaella. This is the main relationship because they are the main characters. A relationship between the main characters is always the most important

I agree with everyone’s comments and opinions. The prominent relationship in the novel is between the protagonists Garnet Havelock and Raphaella Skyes. The connection between them was strong and could not be broken. Their love for each other was ever lasting. It all began ironically in English class during a debate with the topic love at first sight. Garnet instantly fell in love after laying eyes on her. It took him a lot of effort and determination to get her attention but he was rewarded in the by receiving Raphaella’s love.
Raphaella agreed to go on a date with Garnet but after the date she didn’t speak to him. Garnet was confused but didn’t stop him from going up to Raphaella and kissing her. From there are they were considered a couple and had a very strong relationship. Kirisa’s comment was surprising because she was one of the few people who commented on the other strong relationship in the book between Jubal and Hannah which I found to be just as significant.
